I raise Araucana, Ameraucana and Easter Eggers and each breed has great qualities.

All three breeds are comparable in laying abilities and temperament. EE are not very motherly depending on how they're bred, however Araucana and Ameraucana are great mothers and very dedicated to the brooding process.

It is really a shame all of the misrepresentation of the breeds by using the wrong name to sell a product. It just makes the education more challenging for everyone. There are club sites for Araucana and Ameraucana. Since the Ameraucana club has been noted, the araucana club site is www.araucana.net for more information on that breed.

Maybe all the ameraucana breeders should find a lawyer and sue all the hatcheries for fraud and false advertising. They all know what they are doing. If we could only find a "pro bono" lawyer......

I wish they would advertise them as easter eggers or rainbow layers instead of spelling ameraucana wrong and luring people in.
