Ameracaunas first egg!

True ameraucanas or araucanas need to be gotten through a breeder...Here is my pair of Lavender Ameraucanas...

They are a little bigger now, and their color is brighter than in the pics, but you can still see them well enough

Here is my EE cockerel: He has the most colors out of any of my birds, and I just love him! He's going to be my mixed layer coop's protector

His cheeks are black against his otherwise red face, too cute!! I love the EE's - so many colors!! It's disappointing when you don't get the colored eggs, but at least you have a beautiful bird!

Well, I hatched out some Splash chicks from eggs, and the lavenders I just happened to get lucky to find

If you want to hatch eggs, there are some great people on here to get them from, otherwise you might need to have them shipped to you, unless you can find a breeder in your area... My Frizzled EE just started laying, and she's giving me pink eggs

They look tan if you just glance, but if you put them next to one of my australorps eggs, they are definitely pink

I would suggest going to the Ameraucana Breeder's Club site and then looking at their Breeders List. Each person's location is stated as well as what variety they have and what they can help you with.

At one time, I would have recommended this list as a trusted resource. However, it was recently posted elsewhere on BYC that someone got eggs from a breeder listed by the ABC Breeders List and that turned out to be not such a good thing.

Having said that, I would still recommend the list as the best resource for finding Ameraucana Breeders. From there, please do your homework and just like finding an Outfitter for a fishing/hunting trip, be SURE to ask lots of questions!

God Bless,
