You might want to qualify that with "any EE roo with darker red shading--" I have a bird that is clearly a pullet and has a white body with dark red shoulders. She's a cross between a RIR and a white Leghorn (probably).

Now that's a bird I'd like to see! Do you have pictures of her?

Same here. Have never seen that colour in a pullet.

She just happened to be in a photo I put on the blog Tuesday. Here she is, wishing she could get back inside because: Snow is Yucky! I am positive this one's a pullet because she is 24 weeks old, and the boys from her clutch all went to the auction long ago.

I wouldn't really call that dark red though. That's like an orange colour to my eyes.

You're right, it is more orange. But any reddish color on the shoulders when the rest of the body doesn't have the same color pattern--we assumed she'd be a cockerel, but nope!

Here is an example of red on the shoulder that would worry me. I find boys have more of an area of red, and if girls do have it at all like your girl, it's usually very patterned and faint.

WalkingOnSunshine, she's LOVELY! I'd call it peach patterning myself but she's a beautiful example of how a female with red tones on white looks. When the red came in on my EE cockerel, it looked like someone had dropped a few splats of blood on him and it had dried.
