Ameraucana Eggs - Difference in Color

A dark egg layer mixed with a blue egg layer will get you an olive egg layer. Usually.

I mix welsummers with true ameraucanas and get olive eggers out of the mix. You can do the same thing with marans.

Thanks everybody! It was just strange to open up the box and see GREEN eggs when the eggs pictured were clearly very BLUE in color. The 2 pictures I posted were of the same egg, but all of the eggs sent were the same shade. They are from an APA recognized color of Ameraucanas, so they are not from feed store chickens (I hope), but I question was - Is this something I really want in my flock: green egg color? Or is the conformation of the actual bird that hatches more important?

This pic was taken outside with no flash... I do think my EE eggs look more green than blue (sometimes)... but I love the assortment of colors. I want an Olive Egger REALLY REALLY BAD!!!

Please be gentle as I am still learning, and I have learned that this is a contentious subject.

So right now I have figured out that I have Easter Eggers, even though the breeder told me that they are Ameracaunas.

They almost always hatch out a nice light colored chick which grows into a RIR coloration.
However 2 other chicks from the same breeder have been black and gray chicks, therefore EE.

I am getting the light green eggs in the pictures, like cashdl and Mahonri in the carton.

So I would like to know are there true Ameracaunas that will lay blue eggs,
or are mine considered blue and I would need to buy Aracaunas to get actual blue eggs?

This was taken outside on a clear day about 10 am, with no flash, I think it accurately shows the color of the eggs. When you use indoor lighting with a flash it washes the color out.

Who is laying the olive egg with the speckles? I'm guessing the bird has some Welsummer in its parentage?
