At what age should I be looking for eggs? my Ameraucana rooster scored today after weeks of trying I am anxious to get more eggs.

At what age should I be looking for eggs? my Ameraucana rooster scored today after weeks of trying I am anxious to get more eggs.

The onset of production can vary widely from one bird to the next, even within the same breed. How old are your pullets and are they showing any of the common indications of reaching the point of lay? Cockerels often think it's time before it's time, so seeing mounting/mating is really not the best indicator to use.

they are 4 months old and the egg we got the other day was very small green and it had a yolk but the albumen looked like jelly. I'm guessing her body just had a trial run.
