Ameraucana gender @7weeks?

Well, my chick is at least 8.5 weeks old, I believe. (Breeder says he moved them out of the brooder box and outside without heat a week or two before we bought it on the 6th, so it was 7-8 weeks old then.) It could be 9.5 weeks old now. I haven’t seen that pink color since the day I gave it a warm bath & blow dry. Thoughts? Still looking like a cockerel?

I think it is a bit younger than you were told, or else it's a bit of a slow developer.

It seems to have grown into its comb, so it looks less like a cockerel now. Also, the color is even, which is something that is associated with pullets. But it still could be a cockerel. I think it will take some more time to know for sure with this particular bird.

Thank you for your reply. I got some chicks from the same breeder back in August and had issues with cocci and slow growth (one chick didn’t grow a gram in over a week!). So this new one is already on Corid. Hopefully growth will pick up like with the last batch after Corid. It does seem small for 8-9 weeks. It was outside in an coop/run the day we got it. Temps around 25-35° F, I’d guess. It was fully feathered. Perhaps it was only 6 weeks old when we bought it. Maybe it was fully feathered at 5 weeks and got put outside at 5 weeks then. 🤷🏻‍♀️ He only said it was put outside a week or two ago. I assumed that meant 7-8 weeks old that day we bought it. Maybe they go out earlier if fully feathered.
I’ll weigh it and make sure it has gained this week. I’ll update with more photos in a few weeks. Thank you.

I had a black ameraucana just like that. It turned out to be a cockerel, but I didn't know that definitively until 13 weeks. His brother developed faster, and we knew he was a "he" sooner.
Either way, I’ll keep him/her. Yours had a nude color comb with one middle row on the pea comb and turned out to be a boy? Mine only had that pink comb right after the warm bath & blow dry.
I guess the waiting continues. I had thought the previous responders would come back and say something like, “Oh, definitely looks like a pullet now. Warm bath & blow dry must have pinned up that comb for a few minutes.”🤣 No such luck! Ha!
And now I’m doubting it’s age too! I guess the youngest it could be is 7.5 weeks (it was outside in temps ~30°F & fully feathered on 2/6), and the oldest it could be is 9.5 weeks (since the breeder said it had been outside 1 or 2 weeks already the day we bought it).

I texted the breeder and asked the chick’s age. He said it should be about 6-7 weeks now! So it was only 4.5-5.5 weeks old when we bought it. That explains its smaller size. I didn’t realize such young birds could be outside already without heat. Maybe because there were so many of them together... 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or maybe I missed seeing a heat lamp. I must have missed seeing a heat lamp. Surely if he put them outside 1-2 weeks before... they would have been 3.5ish weeks old... they would need a lamp. I don’t know. But they were all fully feathered on the 6th.
Here’s today’s photos of Silver. 6-7 weeks old now. Pretend you didn’t see any of the prior photos (when I didn’t know what I was talking about because I assume I know stuff!) and guess gender again if you’d like. 😆

Alrighty, well you may very well have a puller on your hands.

My Ameraucana chick is approximately 9 weeks old now. Here are some photos from this morning. I didn’t crawl in the chicken tractor, so I couldn’t get very close, but hopefully the photos are clear enough. Thoughts on gender?
