Ameraucana or EE?

This whole time I thought my "Ameraucanas" met the breed standard. The color chart informs me that they are fakes. Now I'll have to cull them.

This whole time I thought my "Ameraucanas" met the breed standard. The color chart informs me that they are fakes. Now I'll have to cull them.

Why cull them? I have both EE's and pure Ameraucana's and love them both. Unless you are planning on breeding them, then that's another matter.

But I would get kicked out of my prestigious backyard chicken club if the other members knew I had three mutts in my flock! I shall dispose of them quickly and say they flew away.

Okay -- I'm being facetious. I just find it hard to believe that a partridge-colored "Ameraucana" that has all of the features of the breed -- pea comb, curved beak, slate legs, cool puffy face, etc. -- doesn't make the breed because it's partridge in color. Almost all of the "Ameraucana" chicks I've seen for sale look like this, with chipmunk striping and partridge coloration. I suppose the hatcheries need to re-label what they sell to the public, lest they disappoint chicken hobbyists who later find out they actually bought uncertified hybrid birds.

I love them anyway. I just want to know what I should call them. I don't want to say Ameraucana if they are EE and vise versa.
