do you think she is close to laying

Oh I'm so happy I found this page. I'm trying to get my information all lined up and then start an Ameracuana project in the spring. I want to get silkied Ameraucana pullets in in Blue, Black, Splash, Chocolate, and Lavender and have them covered by a khaki(mauve) colored Roo. What do you all think?

I've never heard of a khaki Ameraucana. The Ameraucana Breeder Club is where I get my reference for Ameraucanas from. http://www.ameraucana.org/
There are a lot of great helpers here. I would caution you about certain crosses as they do not breed true. Those with Black Blue Splash can help get you started. Lavender and Chocolate are getting more information though.

From what I understand it involves finding a roo who is blue but with the chocolate dilution genes.

So crossing two Khakis gets you 25% Khaki, 50% Splash, and 25% Chocolate.

Getting Khaki involves crossing a blue and a chocolate, then breeding the roos (some will be blue split to chocolate) from that back to a chocolate hen. The splits plus the blue hens will create Khaki chicks.

I see. I think. I love the dilution genes and how they make things interesting. It will be an interesting project. Keep us posted.

I will for sure! I'm trying to figure out if I have to create my own whether I should work on introducing Barring, color, feather type, or body conformation. I know some I will be able to work on simultaneously. I'm so excited. I think I will have to use hard feathered chocolates at first, and I will probably have to create my own Khaki Roo as well, but I am stoked to start. I just wish I had more property. Hopefully I can find some chicken enthusiasts who want to work on this with me. Preferably local, but maybe not necessarily. It will begin near Easter when I hope to hatch a couple groups of SiAm eggs.

I have found a couple on here. I found one FB group that had the st mutation name in the group I'm still waiting on being accepted. I haven't found any other Siam FB groups yet.
