Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

We have a 1.5 old Wheaten rooster who I have noticed that the back half of his comb leans to the right(it use to be straight on the top of his head), is this something that starts happening as they get older or is this something that should be culled as it could be passed on.
Thanks

I think the bantam eggs are perfect for frying - they fit great on an english muffin. If you use them for say a quiche, you'll probably have to use 2 dozen or so.

And my bantam girls are super quiet, I almost never hear a peep out of them

Attended my first "real" poultry show today - Colwyn Championship Showcase in Fergus, Ontario, Canada. What a thrill!! Some seriously classy birds going for some seriously BIG bucks. (A trio of Buff Orps went for well over $1K. Boggles the mind.) But -- the high point for me -- saw some VERY nice (lf) Ameraucanas; a white YF won reserve AOSB, and a black YF won AOSB. Gorgeous birds and BIG. Very impressive for Ameraucanas. Well deserved wins. A couple of blues with very impressive lacing and size - for Ameraucanas

. These birds are all going to be shown at Crossroads in Indianapolis which really excites me. Great to have Canadian representation! (And I have encouraged the owner of these birds to join the ABC.) I also made arrangements to buy some eggs from him in the spring. (He isn't selling birds yet as he is just getting started with B/B/S Ameraucanas.) He imported eggs from New Jersey earlier this year. (I don't remember the name ...

) He was showing a load of poultry there today (and did VERY well) but he was overwhelmed with the response to his Ameraucanas.

I also asked him about the egg colour they are laying. He admits he is a bit disappointed in that department. Eggs are "greener" than he expected - as are mine

. Oh well, something to work on! (He also told me we can import up to 2 dozen eggs into Canada without paperwork which has me totally stoked!!!! I'm gonna have to build another coop!)

I was there as well, and those bird were very nice.............The birds belonged to Baker and Goodfellow, they always have top notch birds. I picked the the big Black Pullet to win the Breed, and it was well deserved when Paul Kroll gave it Best AOSB.

I hope my birds will look like his when they fill out.

I apologize in advance for the photos - not the best pictures but the best I could do at the show ...
