Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

*Project Ameraucana Alert*
Got the first eggs from a new generation splash Frizz-'Aucana girl (weird pic, but all I can find of her)

2 splash cockerels from same mating:

Top row is pullet Rock, hers, and the one marked 'C' is from blue Cuckoo-'Aucana.
Middle row is splash Ameraucana and a blue Ameraucana (unmarked). Those 6 are ALL the Ameraucana eggs I've gotten in the last 6 days.
Bottom are Rocks.
I'm just tickled about the egg color.

So that brings up me asking - What ever happened to frizzled Ameraucanas? Are they that rare that getting some requires introducing frizzling? I once saw a photo of some frizzled blacks on Feathersite and figured they were around, but since then never see any photos.

Quote:
As long as they're true Silvers (males have white in the secondary feathers, females are colored like a silver duckwing, then there's no issues introducing them to a flock of Silvers. As for the blues, yes - Out of the F1 x F1 you'll want at least one parent to be a blue carrier. Because remember, a blue bird carries one copy of the blue gene. Two copies is a splash. No copies is a black, and even a black from a blue breeding will not create any more blues unless bred to a blue or splash.

So, whether you want to improve your Silvers by doing this or make a Blue-Silver, the main thing that is important here is to choose birds that are fully duckwing. Females will be easy to recognize, males - Look for ones with white in the secondary feathers.

Oh and if any males feather out with yellow or red on them - Cull them.
