Ha- I knew she'd pop in. I was so busy writing and erasing rants about the exploitation of lavenders going on in the BST that I got sidetracked.

I've been wondering about this for a while and haven't really been able to find any info about it, maybe some of you Ameraucana experts can enlighten me. why are Splash Wheaten Am not recognized?

The same reason splash isn't accepted in some other breeds- splash has too much variation to form a good standard for it. Supposedly. That's what I was told. They are such pretty birds though!

I dunno. From what I've seen on the ABC Forum, there isn't any difference between the Lav from the Blacks and the Lav from a Wheaten. If that's the case, what's the point?

I'd encourage you to keep working on the BW's. They still need lots of work and there are few dedicated breeders to the variety.

God Bless,

I think there's some truth to that but there are a couple of varieties - or at least one for sure that I've read about - where Splash is recognized. So it can be done. I think it probably has more to do with the fact that there hasn't been a dedicated effort to do so. There's some talk about it on the ABC Forum now.

Personally, I don't know why more of an effort can't be done - especially when it comes to the SW. I don't have BBS so can't speak to them but wrt the SW, there is very little variation between the males or between the females. Certainly no more than in a W or BW.

God Bless,

Those of you looking for a project please don't jump into a project if you don't understand the genetics. There is no glory or true monetary gain in flooding the market with false claims and easter eggers.

Anyone interested in a Silver Ameraucana roo?

He is @ 2 years old from Jean's stock.

I will list him in the auction as soon as they let things be listed again.
