Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Tenneseeckn, Numbers 2, 3, & 4 are definitely pullets. Number 1 I'm not sure about. It's been so long since I had a SW Cockerel that I can't remember what they look like but I'm thinking that may be it. Otherwise, you may have something like one bird I've got. It has plumage that for the most part looks like a BW pullet but it also has some other funky plumage that is sort of like the red edging you see on yours.

I've had this bird for almost two years now. It doesn't act like a male at all but I can still only fit one finger between it's pelvic bones. And it's never gotten to full size either. I'm wondering if it may not be a hermaphrodite or something. Strange for sure. Let us know how that bird looks in a few months. I'd be interested to know.

God Bless,

I have another one just like it two weeks younger. I'll update you again later when they get their adult feathers. Sadly, I'd be OK with a hermaphrodite. It would be an improvement over all the boys I've been hatching.

Thanks for the input.

I recently received Ameraucana eggs. (wheaten / blue wheaten)
4 are pretty dark blue
3 are almost white

What are the chances the 3 light egg chicks
will lay blue eggs? Should I bother incubating them ?

Some wheaten/blue wheaten lines lose egg color after their first year or are generally on the pale side to begin with. I would hatch them because their type might be better than the birds that hatch from the darker eggs and you don't know if they were sired by a darker egg potential roo. If you can, put dividers in your hatcher so you can mark the chicks that hatched from the lighter eggs for later evaluation.

I have a blue wheaten pullet that lays a near white egg. Hoping the chicks will inherit some egg color from the roo

My other 2 wheaten pullets lay a nice blue color. Hatching will start in a WEEK!

Sorry, that is not a lavender. I don't see beard and muffs and it just does not look like an AM to me, but I only have black ams and lavender/splits. If it is a ameraucana it would be a blue, the eye liner is the main thing that is trowing me. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

So if there is no beard and muffs, would she then just be an EE? I am really new to this and really just wanted a blue egg layer and a lavender bird, so I thought I had combined the two wants with this one bird. Its gonna be a little crappy if I get neither, I will still love her as mentioned before, but then I will have to continue expanding my flock.

CHICKEN MATH! She is not a lavender and my guess is she is an EE.... did you get her from the same place you got the EE chick? (I saw that on the EE thread) I have lots of EE and almost ALL lay a nice blue egg... I could not tell by the eggs if it was an EE or a pure Ameraucana. I breed my EE for a blue/blue green.... I don't really care for the green, but the OLIVE that is another story...
