Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Michigan is MI ... not entirely across the world from ME/NH/MA ....

A WHOLE lot closer than Hawaii, at any rate!!!

That really is funny. Maine is ME and MA is Massachussetts. I know a gal in TN who has some nice ones too but that is too far with a baby for sure!
Thank you for the thought and the laugh.
I know there are a couple Am breeders coming to our chickenstock in July in NH. Feel free to post on thread in my signature. The girls should see it from there.

I just heard from a gal near Keene who says she has a NICE roo. I hope so but I'll believe that when I see it. This guy we have now is a jerk. He attacked at feeding time even. I have such a bruise on my leg! I hate to eat him-- feels like eating a panda, but I am starting to change my mind. This woman with the black says he is really nice and has never been aggressive. I hate that this roo keeps me from the hens who are actually really sweet. Anyway, thanks again.
And yes, baby Ams are CUTE!

I just hatched some Lav chicks today! YEAH..... ok I have a question.... Do lavs come in SHADES like blues? I had one hatch that looked blue? I don't have blues only blacks and Lavs FROM REPUTABLE breeders. No mixed up eggs, not coop hopping.... NO way that could happen. So it is a black split that is light or a DARK Lavender? Or do I have to wait and breed them to find out.... I don't have a pic, but I can get one tomorrow. Batteries died

I have 7 eggs from Wheaten Ameracuanas on LD and today is the day for hatch. I have one pip. Yes Chicks are the most cutest things to me too. Yours is just precious.

I posted a while back about hatching some silvers and I'm excited to share that it looks like I have 2 pair! They're almost a month old and there's a marked difference between the ones I think are male and the ones I think are female. The pullets are just starting to get the rosy breast feathers while the cockerels have more of a blotchy black and white look to their chests. It will be fun watching them change.

I hatched out a lot more than 4, but culled and lost a few along the way. Lost as in literally lost: I put them out in the chicken tractor a week or so ago to spend some time skittering around on the grass and when I went to catch them back up, two had vanished! Maybe the squeezed through a hole and wandered away, but I'll probably never know.

I am sorry you lost those chicks. I keep my chicks in tractors also. I have found a few chicks that have escaped. I was lucky and always found them trying to get back in. I always worry they may find a hole when I am not around. How are your Silvers? Are you enjoying them?
