I've personally only had one experience with a true ameraucana rooster being aggressive. It only took once to convince him he wasn't in charge.
I often see my boys in the nest box with their ladies.
I hadn't really thought about it, but my limited experience wth ameraucana roos has been similar. Cronus, my Blue Ameraucana roo, also stands at the next boxes and croons to the girls while they're laying.
All 4 of the roos I've kept have been sweeties. I never handled them much as chicks but 3 of the 4 would readily let you pick them up. I've never had one be agressive in any way. All of the cockerels I've had for a short time and then sold were also nice, well behaved boys.

I've only kept one Ameraucana cockerel, if any of you remember Scout. Came from a Cree Farms bred to a Rivergait Farms (sire was Cree). He wasn't the best for breeding, due to base color leakage, but such a shine that boy had! I was going to sell him to a friend when I decided not to breed them any longer, then he began to bite me, then flog. Silly thing was quite young and had no spurs, but he was super protective of one of his blue girls, Charlotte. My friend took him, knowing what he was doing, and for a very long time, maybe a year, he was pretty good. Then he began to flog her and she got rid of him.
So, Scout is the only Ameraucana cockerel I kept to maturity, but I have that blue Wheaten boy who is over 4 weeks old now. I hope he stays calm and easygoing because I'd really love to keep him, even without any girls in that color family for him.

I've enjoyed reading this thread for awhile. Thought I had purchased a pair of year old Ameraucana hens coming out of a bad molt, but alas. The first eggs came yesterday and they are green
So now I have a pair of pretty EE's but hope to some day add a true Ameraucana to my flock! I'll keep reading to learn more and drooling over all your pretty birds
Jean, did you get my email Wednesday about the three Silver females? I asked about a Wheaten female as well.

WHERE where is it!! It was mine to begin with(self employed so gotta pay in) I think I liked it better when we still owed them on April 15th at least then we had money to live on because we were working now...
hey at least we still have food on the table..eggs and unlucky roos

Oh you have six, good! I sure wish you had a wheaten female or two. You were so right about one of that one Lavender male having a little blonde in his hackles. When all the mud dried up, the smaller male was perfectly clean and Lavender all over, but the larger boy still has a touch of blonde. The smaller one is now in the pen with the B/L split females and I'm getting some pretty and fertile blue eggs, yeah!!! The other boy is with my mixed flock. I'd like to find a few wheaten females to breed him with to make some Isabella or Lavender Wheatens. He is such a nice boy otherwise, I hate that I don't have a use for him.
I'm tempted on the F1 cockerel. The chicks would be around 50/50 when breed to the Silvers, correct? ....and should be larger with better egg color?

I haven't gotten that far yet with the silver crosses.... the egg color should be improved though since the blacks I put in there had very nice color.
I do have one wheaten/blue wheaten pullet; her head is very white and she doesn't quite look right to me. I usually sell those types of birds locally as layers, I usually don't offer them for sale on auctions or here on the forum.
If you wanted to get her for your project, I think she would work........
