Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the heck color this cockerel is.  I got him from thefancychick.com and she said that they were using a John Blehm cock at the time.

Is it blue wheaten?

No it is not a blue wheaten. It does not look like any ameraucana recognized color.
They must not have been using the John Blehm blue wheaten cock with a wheaten color family hen.

There are lots of great old books online.... several places you can look. Here is one with a search of the APA SOP

Thanks you for the site, this will be very helpful to me as well

Is this considered straight Blue with "leakage"? I'm still trying to define that term.

I don't think there is a name for this color. It looks like the result of mixing two "genetically incompatible" colors. It's very similar to some cockerels I have growing out right now from my blue ameraucana rooster over speckled sussex and an EE hens.

This guy is the result of a blue rooster over the EE hen in my avatar.

I don't have any good ones of the blues, these are the best I could find, but these boys are the result of a blue rooster over speckled sussex hens
