Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Okay, I thought I knew what to expect when my splash cock got on with the black hens here but... I have my first hatch here (woo hoo) but one looks black, one blue and another splash. I only have two splash girls and two lavs-- they don't usually lay with the others though as they have and prefer their own coop. I thought it was only black and splash progeny here BUT... I might be wrong.
Now Barngoddess.... I got up early and went out in the dark barn to take these with a baby on my hip and all, so go easy. I know they aren't as nice a photo as yours are or even as cute of babies, but I need a few ooohs and aaaahs for them anyway. I didn't have any cotton candy here so I got what I got.

This is the one who came out first so I got the best pix of it but there are more now. Will send a few on to you all so you can comment on what they look to be. My best guesses are, as stated above, blue, black, splash and a cross.

Given that it is a splash on black they should all be blue, just as pips&peeps has said. Blue comes in MANY shades!! And congratulations!!!! They are gorgeous!!

Looks like cotton candy to me!!!

ha ha. Sorry. I thought I said that was all pix of just ONE chick, the first to come out. We have four so far, but two are clearly OrloffxAm crosses. One is definitely a splash and the other the blue. See...

I would post the crosses because they are interesting but I know how you all feel about The EE. I think this means that my splash roo and splash hen made this baby. I am worried that will mean it is very diluted. I tried not having their eggs in there... but apparently chickens are trained by the CIA.

Dhartanyan~Because their mixed colors~ that is why they are called easter eggers. That looks like a very upscale coop you have there.
My fiance built it for me in one of our empty horse stalls :) Now he just has to make an outside area for them to free range during the day.

Now, my preggo brain just isnt understanding your comment LOL
So do you mean becuase they are two different "variations" that makes them EEs? Or is it becuase of their mixed colors on each bird?
