More than you think.... I am starting to think about a 3rd for my backup backup. What do you do when your backup dies and you are down to just the one again.... or worse your main roo dies.....
I have about 30 of breeding age.... and maybe 10 more growing out. The other roos will not make the next cut... well most. I lost my Blue Copper Marans roo the other day and I don't have a backup, but I still have enough Copper Marans roos so I am fine, but it sure will throw a wrench in your plans when you lose one you NEED and don't have an alternate.![]()

Reyvaugn, do you ever sell chicks/eggs/pullets? I have two blue wheaten cockerels but wasn't able to get my hands on any wheaten girls this year. That is one variety I would really like to have, and it seems like you might not be too far away.
Kahlua, just a quick note to say I noticed you have Spangled Orloffs. Do you also have any Mahogany? Also thought you'd like to know that there may be an effort soon to get the Orloffs put back in the book.
On another note, I noticed there was a lot of talk a couple pages back about egg color again. What was strikingly noticeably missing was the lack of BG mentioning how the birds laying those "green" eggs should not be called Ameraucanas and/or should not be shown because they didn't lay a "blue" egg. So am I to gather than a green egg is ok but a white egg laid from a hen that used to lay a light blue egg is not?
God Bless,

God Bless,
Lets not do this.....What was pointed out is that "blue" and "green" are very often in the eye of the beholder as is also VERY apparent on the Ameraucana egg colour chart that has MANY shades of green/blue depending on how you choose to define it.
