Awwww, look at the chorus line! There they are - the cute little peeps! Oops, somebody forgot to direct that last one...

Do you know how hard it was to get those guys to stand in a line let alone all face forward?!

It took a lot of pushing them back into line, turning them around, then taking the picture fast!

This was the first try~

These chicks continue to impress me. You know how if you have a puppy and it is always underfoot? Well these chicks are always "underhand". First breed that I have had that runs TO your hand, jumps on your hand, and demands attention. I am use to chicks avoiding or being cautious whenever I am feeding or cleaning thier brooder. Not use to having three little helpers, LOL. Nice rich color on their legs too. Six days old now.

New to the breed and this thread. I have 1 silver (1 week) and 4 lavender (2 days).
Any helpful hints on how & when to tell the sex of chicks?
Thanks

I have to wait a little longer on my Ameraucanas to be sure than with my Black Copper Marans, probably 5-6 weeks. BCMs I can pick out at 3 1/2 weeks. As with a lot of breeds, comb is the biggest indicator, and often the boys will "stand tall" more than the girls. Also look at their shanks, males legs are thicker, sometimes as early as 3 weeks I get my suspicions.
