Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

These chicks continue to impress me. You know how if you have a puppy and it is always underfoot? Well these chicks are always "underhand". First breed that I have had that runs TO your hand, jumps on your hand, and demands attention. I am use to chicks avoiding or being cautious whenever I am feeding or cleaning thier brooder. Not use to having three little helpers, LOL. Nice rich color on their legs too. Six days old now.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think the chick in the back might have a toe deformity. It would be it's left foot inner toe. Looks like it's crooked

Wow good eye. I just checked it and it is crooked, not curled or on the side, just set crooked at the joint closest to the web. I guess it is too late for orthotics, it is 6 days old now. Sad I missed that, bad chicken momma too busy cooing a petting on them. :/
ETA: little chick is paddling around very well in its custom made orthotic.... Gotta try! :D

Alejandro, 3 month old blue wheaten Ameraucana roo. He's such a sweet boy :)

How beautiful! I have a blue Ameracauna, but these wheatens are gorgeous! It kinda reminds me of a bald eagle.

I'd love to add some of these to my flock someday!

Recent pictures of my blue Meredith line Ameraucanas, this was just before the pullet started laying. She is a BIG girl, probably 40% larger than my black Smith X Blehm hens. If I am just glancing at the Ameraucana pen sometimes I mistake her for the blue cockerel!
ETA: Both of these birds were hatched Sept or October so they are pretty young.

And this is the blue cockerel (same blue pullet as above on the left side of the photo)

More recent picture of the pair:

This is my black rooster, John Blehm X Paul Smith lines. Was told when I bought him he was SQ. He is the black rooster in all the photos.

Here he is again with a few black hens. Much better stance in this photo.

You can see here he has really good width.

This is a blue hen Blehm X Smith lines. I think I prefer the darker blue of the first girl, but I'm not sure if one color is more "correct?" Also she is much smaller.

The black hens I have are OK, nothing spectacular, but I really like the first three birds pictured. Any comments or critiques? Really wanting to do some serious breeding soon and I've spent a lot of time looking around locally for good stock.

This is a cockerel! Just slower to develop then the other.

Bleh I hope not.... :( I had 3 little ones I raised up, the two boys showed quick but as small and light as the comb was on this one for SO long I really thought I got at least 1 girl!!!

ETA: I'm still in denial :( Gotta go look at them again. :(

Here are some better pics of the cockerel I posted the other day. He was deemed a keeper but I wanted to see if anything has changed with better pics! He's about 10 months old.
