Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hello, I decided to come to this thread to ask you Ameraucana peoples to seen if these are ameraucanas or easter eggers...

This is Bat and Noodle. They are 2ish weeks old, I was wondering if they were actually are Ameraucanas or if they are Easter Eggers?

I got 5 Ameraucana chicks this year as well as a couple of Welsummers to mix up my olive egger gene pool.
I got them as 2 day old's from a local breeder. I wasn't sure what the lil yellow chick would turn out to be.
@ 5 weeks old she is solid white with the dark green legs. Is this a rare trait white with dark legs?
I have only ever gotten the brown and red colors before.
They are Easter Eggers as someone else already said :P

But I love the contrast on that white one!

lol Its like a strawberry comb or something!

Thank you all for putting me on the right track! So grateful for your help!!! Strawberry comb sounds a LOT better than warbled! Thanks for your help again!

So glad you posted a pic.Saved me the trouble of taking one.The comb is big but if it is pea you can work on that.Start where you are with what you have.

Well the comb is really off. But aside from that it all looks good. Just keep in mind yours is a rooster and the picture I posted is a hen. No problem.

That is a GORGEOUS hen!! I was curious...but felt stupid asking :)

When you put me on the Wheaton track, I did find a picture on a signatuefeathers.com of a Blue Splash Wheaton Ameraucana Rooster that looks like ours...minus the warbl...strawberry comb :)

What would you recommend pairing him with to get rid of the comb issue? Either way I'm just hoping for blue-egged offspring :) Thank you all again!
It is a splash wheaten ameraucana cockerel. - just a poor specimen.

For those of you who have very recently realized that you have Easter Eggers instead of Ameraucanas, come on over to this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/273489/the-ee-braggers-thread/11260#post_11210362 While your birds may not be the real Ameraucana deal, they will be wonderful layers and terrific additions to your flock! I l love my EEs and OEs.

After spending some time on Craigslist today (why?!?) I am not at all surprised that so many people are led astray. EEs marketed as Ameraucanas (or even better: as Americanas!) were everywhere. I've even recently seen it on a "Rare Breeds" auction group on Facebook. (The lister was not pleased with a bunch of us who let her know her birds were not Ams.) I hate being the bad guy and constantly having to disappoint people when I let them know that they didn't buy what they thought...

It seems possible that Bat could turn out to be an Ameraucana. Black Ameraucana chicks have light areas on them.
It looks like he has one white feather in one wing, & if that doesn't change I don't know if that could be enough to disqualify him, though?

Note: On the site in my sig, there is general info on how to tell what breed a chicken is, if it's also helpful.

---------------------------------
Later note: Taking a closer look, I'm noticing he has yellow on his toes, which means he has yellow skin overall (You can confirm this by looking at the undersides of his feet). That is a disqualification for Ameraucanas, so you have two cute EE chicks!

Well, at least I know they came from blue eggs. When I went to pick them up the egg shells where still in the dryer and one chick was still wet! All the adults in the pen where partridge colored. 4 out of the 5 chicks are partridge colored with the dark green/slate legs and beards. I just ended up with the odd white one. Either way I guess it doesn't matter I just wanted new genes for my Olive egger breeding. The green is getting too dark and needs a fresh pool of blue bred in.

I think you have a Black Ameraucana its all black and you can see the white tipped wings on the right side shot of the black one. Thats a classic black Am growth pattern to all Black Am Chicks. And most blacks in general i beleive get white tipped wings as chicks. My Black Cochins did also.. Also its way way to young to be looking at the leg color on the black one. they will start this way and fill out all the same color if its a Black AM

Well, if that is what you wanted them for, that is exactly what you got! And because they came from blue eggs they have at least one copy of the blue egg gene - so you are set!

Partridge coloring on the parents and chicks is a dead give-away for EEs. So are green legs. Only Silver AMs have Partridge looking chicks - but the parents do not look Partridge. If one is an EE - they all are... very pretty EEs though.
