Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I think you have a Black Ameraucana its all black and you can see the white tipped wings on the right side shot of the black one. Thats a classic black Am growth pattern to all Black Am Chicks. And most blacks in general i beleive get white tipped wings as chicks. My Black Cochins did also..  Also its way way to young to be looking at the leg color on the black one. they will start this way and fill out all the same color if its a Black AM

I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, SpeckledHills comment about the leg color is based off the appearance that this chick has yellow skin. AMs do have toe color that will fill in as the chicks grow, but the tips should be white. Not yellow. Yellow skin is not an AM trait, and it would not be too early to determine that. :)

Skin is pink looking.

They were in two bins. I have no clue why, but there was some fluffy brown ones like Noodle, and then there was a bin with more, white, black, brown. But hey weren't as fluffy.

Hmmm, well that doesn't help me figure out what you got, but it does help to figure out what you don't got. True Ameraucanas are almost never found in feed store bins. Feed stores usually purchase chicks from hatcheries and hatcheries sell EEs. They usually advertise them as "Americanas" but they are EEs. Sorry I couldn't help you more with figuring out what you have! Maybe someone else who is familiar with multiple breeds could help?

Eh, its doesn't really matter what they are. I have no idea what hatchery that feed store get their chicks from either.. I am just wondering why they were separated...

When do Ameraucanas and EEs get their fluffy faces?

They usually have them from the start. My EEs that didn't have fluffy faces as chicks are clean faced (no beards/tufts) as grown hens. EEs can be clean faced. If you want some "real" AMs you can try the Ameraucanas Breeders Club website for local breeders in your area. Or check out the buy/sell/trade section on here. A lot of really experienced breeders on this thread are usually willing to sell chicks/eggs. But EEs really are great! I love mine! :D
