I justI bought these little gals(...hopefully )the from a breeder and was wondering if anyone can tell what type of Wheaten they are...Blue or Splash possibly? They're only 4 weeks now...is it too early? Thanks much! I can't wait till I'm on the giving end of this conversation!

I know this is the ameraucana thread. But what could I breed my blue ameraucana roo with to make auto sexing chicks. wanting something I could tell within a few weeks or even days if I could.

I'm not sure a blue Ameraucana can be used for sex-linking. Have you read through post 1 on the Sex-Linked Information thread?

ETA: based on Q7 at the bottom I'm thinking MAYBE if you crossed it with a barred hen you could get black sexlinks? But I would pm tadkerson he will answer your question.

Solid roo and barred hen will give you sex-links. Blue and black single factor barred males and solid females. You can also do it with lavenders.

They will not breed true to the sex-linking. You have to keep doing the same cross.

Does anyone have any pics of a splash chick they could post? I am going to be hatching some soon and in the same incubator I have blues and blacks and I want to make sure I can tell them apart,I have hatched blues before and seen blacks on the ameraucana breeders website. I assume they will be a lot lighter in color, but you know what happens when you assume, so I thought I would ask. Thanks
