Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I am newer to this variety of Ameraucana. I am pretty good at sexing b/b/s. I am having problems with the splash wheatens. The hens are usually light, no matter what variety. When you have the male, it does not show the dark splotching, that the w/bw seem to have at this age. So I am not sure. If you see a row of prominent peas down the middle, with smaller peas on the side, and its pinker. Its a cockerel. The legs are also a fair indicator. You have to be careful, at around 8-12 weeks you can have cockerels getting hen feathers, you might have pullets that are developing quicker then others, and you will have slow growing cockerels. So.............time will tell!
Thanks so much! I'll let you know when the time comes! ...the breeder we got them, and 4 others from, had lice on one of the birds so I'm anxious to know so I can get the little ones replaced before they go in with the adults! I'm assuming they're splash since they seem too light to be blue, but we'll see...thanks for the input and in daylight they do look like peas...thank you so much again!!!

I find that if you upload the picture to one of your albums first and then just individually click them on from your recent uploads then it works. It's a pain but that's the only way I have been able to get it to work lately.
