Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Finally, I got some pictures of my Blue Wheaten rooster. He was hatched on March 13. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any other eggs to hatch in two separate batches. So, I purchased some Wheaten pullets that I got from Kate LaDue in Sharpsburg, MD in June for this rooster. I think this rooster looks really good but I would appreciate others views.

Your thoughts and comments are appreciated! Thanks.

Can anyone help me?

I got 2 wheaton and 2 blue ameraucana chicks from MPC in May. I haven't had ameraucanas before and I'm trying to figure out if this one is a roo-------no crowing, no aggressive behavior, almost no comb, no pointy feathers, about the same size/shape as the others.. They are now almost 14 weeks old. The other blue looks like a typical blue hen.

This one is the cuddliest and friendliest of them all--really hoping I won't have to give it away.

Thanks!

It is hard to tell from the distance and the lighting of the pictures. The bird's color doesn't look right either.

If that is the wheaten you got in the background, it doesn't appear to have a beard and muff. You may have gotten had for the amount of money you had to put out.

Thanks--I'll see if I can get a better picture.

The MPC website stated that the birds were purebred ameraucanas, but that they might or might not have beards/muffs. Sort of confusing since the standard says they should have them.

Hi--got a few more pictures, I'm not sure if they're any better or not. Also sent an email to MPC to see what they had to say.

Thanks again

Sure! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I've only had one chick, a partridge rock, that turned out to be a rooster. He started to look different from the 2 hens at about 8 weeks. His body shape was more narrow, his color was just slightly lighter, and his comb was red early. He grew faster and was bigger than the hens and by 12 weeks his feathers were totally different than the hens. He was very dominant--lots of neck feathers fluffing out and who's the tallest chicken contests. He didn't crow, though, till he was over 5 months old months old. (He promptly made up for lost time when he figured it out!)

The one I'm concerned about now hasn't done any of those things, but the coloring doesn't look like any of the pictures of blue or splash hens that I've been able to find.
