Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

He seems like an interesting bird. But I was wondering - why do you have him on a leash???
I just did that to take pictures of him. He runs around to much and sometimes acts like he might attack me. SO i figured the eaiest way to get some good pics would be to put a little leash around his ankle for a minute and then toss him back in his pen. His pen is actually the background in the pic, behind the fence and everything. Dont worry he get to run loose and everything!

In my profile pic? That is an easter egger. hatcheries and farm stores commonly sell them as "americanas". They are still great birds and can lay you some colorful eggs.I have lots of them running around here!

Does anyone know if this pullet that has just started laying a lovely blue egg is a Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Ameraucana? I thought the lady that I bought it from said they were Wheaten....but then she was talking about blue wheaten. So can someone else point me in the right direction. thanks...

I am thinking Blue Wheaten. I am not sure of her Wheaten part of her color. She sems very gingery. I would not take my word for it, wait for Jean to comment to be sure.

It looks to me like Blue Wheaten as well, and yes very gingery. The reason I say that is because the tail feathers are blue, where a wheaten would be black. I am a novice even though I've been studying the SOP very hard these past few months. If I am correct the beard/muff is supposed to be white? How old is she just out of curiosity.
