Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I agree on Clydes comb...I thought it was too big as well and his darker colors but I don't know if that can be bred out, have to wait for the experts. Bonnie is beautiful but she has that tattered look that is a problem in Lavs but that can be helped by breeding back to black as I understand it.

Cacar80 did you post Bonnie & Clyde on the Lav Ams thread as well? I did mine but haven't had any replies yet, the more critiques the better in my opinion :)

I didn't, I'm reading more there just to try and grasp color. I know mine aren't "show birds", lol, and that's really not my goal- and I gather that's what that thread is based on. I am at ground ZERO here so I don't want to bother them there. LOL

Ah I see. I figured it was about breeding for quality Lavs to further the breed so I didn't think I'd be amiss by asking for advice. How else are the ones who are just starting out, like us, supposed to help & educate ourselves if we don't ask for expert advice & opinion?! ;)

Oh I don't think you're amiss at all! I think you're already a bit ahead of me though. I hope you'll get more feedback I can sponge lol.

Can I play too? Got my first Ameraucanas yesterday. Aaat least I hope they are!

I'm crazy over them already, they are both so sweet and I'm glad to have found them. I think they'll be a great addition to my lil flock.

Bonnie & Clyde, hehe

Since no one has commented I will give it a shot. Clyde's tail angle is a bit high. Can't say for sure if its the lighting or if he is showing a lot of silver. Lavender males often look silvery as they get older. Good blacks are a must in lavender breeding.
