Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

You can use Turbo to make your own Easter eggers.
I guess I might have some olive eggers later. ;-) All my girls are silver laced Wyandotte, barred rocks and Australorp for now. I thought I was going to get a BR cockeral but this guy caught my eye. Thanks all! He was sold as an Ameracauna but not by breeders. I understand true Ameracauna's are rare, and I'm sure even more so around here. Mine has some muff and beard but not very pronounced. My pullets are raised meyer hatchery chicks.
Thanks again :)

Very handsome! He looks like my OE roo who is my next project. I will be breeding him to my black AMs from Dak.
Thanks! Yours is pretty too! What handsome fellas. The pics just don't do them justice. I should get out my camera instead of using my phone. Mine has a bit more muff than what the pictures show.

Hello! This is a fantastic thread. It's a pleasure to read through all the posts and look at the photos!

My friend and I hatched Wheaten Ameraucanas over Easter as part of our soon-to-be flocks. We can each only keep 5 hens each, due to fit ordinance. As luck would have it, we seem to have hatched more cockerels than pullets and are concerned about adding additional pullets when the pullets we have are bigger. We'd like to be able to make decisions sooner rather than later. We have our suspicions about these 5 Wheatens (not EEs, we bought from Lark Rise), but would appreciate your thoughts. What do you think these 5 could be...pullets or cockerels?

Wheaten are easiest to sex when the breast feathers come in. I do not have any pics on file but males will get black in the breast and have a calico look on the rest of the body. Females will have a buff look to the breast .

I think you said they are Wheatens Right?  You can feather sex those at a few weeks usually.  Males color in darker and pullet color in kinda BUFF all over.
I own chick #1 and #2 in the pictures she posted. I went ahead and snapped some of their feathering. It's very confusing :-/ they seem dark if they're supposed to be buff all over for pullets. Does that mean both 1 & 2 are boys?

The first 2 pics are cockerel for sure. I can figure out what is what in the third pic.

I have some hatching eggs that are white and splash over lavender roo. Since these are of two colors of ameraucanas, would the chicks be considered EE?
Also, how can I find information on breeding that is easy to understand for a rookie like me?

yeah they would be EEs. I'll let someone else answer the breeding question since i don't know any sites. but what specific breeding knowledge are you looking for?

Question: could anyone tell me what this little guy is? the one standing on top of the white waterer. They come from a blue wheaten roo and a wheaten roo over blue wheaten and wheaten hens. i think he might be a splash but not sure.
