Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have some hatching eggs that are white and splash over lavender roo. Since these are of two colors of ameraucanas, would the chicks be considered EE?
Also, how can I find information on breeding that is easy to understand for a rookie like me?
Like FVRM said, they would be EEs. It would also be nice to know what area you are wanting to know more about. Do you want kknow what colors can be breed together to get more pure colors, color crossing outcomes, cull points, what to look for in a good breeder, and so on? Here are some articles, none maybe of help to you since I don't know what all you are looking for, but most of all ask questions! If no one anwsers you keep asking, someone will sooner or later.

Chicken Calculator (don't ask me how to use it because I don't have a clue lol!)

Well that is a GOOD questions. First your Lavender roo is really a BLACK. Black over Splash = 100% blue Chicks. All that is APA. The white chick would be a wild card. You could get just black chicks or white chicks. NOW the KICKER ALL would be split to Lavender (blue and lavender are NO NO's) and if the white is recessive they would also be split to white as well as Lavender.

If it were me I would not breed them AT ALL unless I wanted pretty easter eggers.

Thank you for your responses. Phew! Been chicken crazy and reading all I can. Even my kids already know what I'm doing when they see me staring at my phone. Lol. They say, "what you lookin'at, chicken stuff?" I'm trying to learn all I can.

Hi, everyone,

Is anyone here breeding specifically for egg color in their Ameraucanas? I'm looking for some that are around A7 or A12 on the ABC chart. Color of the birds themselves isn't that important, although I'm partial to black.

If anyone is breeding for egg color and has some hatching eggs for sale, please PM me. I have a broody sitting right now that I'd love to put to work.

Thanks!

Hi everybody! I hatched out some eggs from a few different breeders this spring and am concerned about how clean faced they seem. These are my first pure Ams to hatch. Should I be?

Splash and blue (roo and pullet?) hatched 3/14

Pair of Wh (no chance they are BW right?) hatched 3/19

the pictures got mixed up sorry:) picture 1,4,5 are Lucy. She is much more active and curious. Pictures 2,3 are Chloe. She is bigger a bit skittish as they both were at feed store for two weeks without being held:( I talk to them and touch them 10-15 times a day. Also snuggle every night ! Any info would help! Thank you!
