Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm confused. You are getting no eggs from ten-month old pullets but you say they started laying a couple of months ago. So, I take it they stopped laying?

You've mentioned problems with your housing. What problems?

Even poor egg layers produce a few eggs a week. If they are not producing any eggs at all, there's a problem somewhere.

Perhaps they are hiding their eggs. Perhaps some sort of predator is eating their eggs. Maybe the diet is so lacking in protein, they have stopped laying. Are they getting enough high-quality food and water? Are they stressed by something, maybe heat?

Something is going on that is more than just the breed.

yes they were laying then just stopped, just like my creme legbars did. And my maran. Nothing is different over here then over there. Except their coop is a little different then ours. I just dont think they like it. So we are working o. Getting a good coop.they get food water, a little treats here and there, usually bannanas or watermellon. They have been de wormed, mites and lice taken care of, they are mg, ai, and salmonella free. Idk why else they would stop. My girls here havent except my maran.

Hello All,
I have four chicks that are 6 weeks old and all have slate legs except the black chick (which has black legs). I was told when I bought the eggs to hatch that they were true Ameraucana's and I did hatch them out of blue eggs. Please let me know what you think. I love them all to death and will keep them even if they are Easter Eggers but it would be nice to know if they seem to be Ameraucana's. Also, if you know what their colors are that would be great info as well.

(Apologies for the poor pictures; I will try and take better ones when I get home from work tonight.)

Very Pretty EEs! They are some of the prettiest colors :)

What does the bread do, or I guess my question is why would that stop them laying?  A friend of mine feeds hers bread all the time.  Her chickens are pets and she is not so concerned with eggs, though.

I was told it fills them up and then they dont get the correct neutriance needed for them to lay

What are you feeding them?  Why do you say they don't like their housing?  I can't imagine battery chickens think much of their housing yet they lay eggs.

they dont have an actual housing. Its just a run with a shelf in a way.they are fed purina layena layer feed. My chickens here do well with it, but the chickens at my bfs never lay.. they just stopped and nothing we do is getting them to lay. I even brou ghh t my creme legbars home and they havent laid and ive tried everything as well
