Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I got 9 eggs today from my group and I normally only get 6 or 7. And my maran laid today, but my her and my legbars are spoken for and the legbars still havent laid. Neither with my ameraucanas. They are so beautiful and want to keep them, but we need eggs.

TherryChicken .   I think you have egg eaters . They can be broke of the habit .

we dont have egg eaters, they have to lY in order to eat lol. They would have also eatten the egs that were in the coop with them for those couple of days as well if they ate the eggs, but interestingly they had mo interest. There arent even egg shells anywhere. Theres nothing

Egg eaters often leave nothing . So here is my reasoning . All the hens that were at the BF place do not lay and they should all lay blue eggs . So you brought some back to your place and they don't lay or eat the other eggs .What color eggs ? Moving them will make them stop laying . Yes even egg eaters . My guess is they learned to eat blue eggs not brown ones . As soon as they start laying at your place they will teach the rest to eat blue eggs and then maybe brown also . Try this look at the vent of these non layers . If they truly are not laying the vent will be small and dry . If large moist and pliable then they are laying . Check the ones at BF place . I think this is where they learned the bad habit .

I really dont believe they are egg eaters as I as well have delt with egg eaters before. But ok

I could be wrong but check the vents . It is the best guess I have . It just seems the only thing in common is all the non layers were at the BF place . Bread should not disrupt laying that much . Years ago I used to get old bakery goods cheap and feed it . Still got eggs .
