I thought at first that this Ameruacana hen was a rooster but now I am not sure. He is the sane age as my EEs and my pea combed EE rooster has way more comb and it is red not pink like this guys.

Some of my pullets...one is a purebred...but I don't know if I got a pictures of her. I have 4 identical black pullets. And ones a purebred from a different breeder.

I'm in denial...I posted this on another thread but thought I'd put it on here since it's an Americauna/EE thread. Is this a hen or rooster? About 15 weeks old.

Thanks Schroeder! That is what I would like to do... One problem I am having is finding ACTUAL pictures of Splash Wheaten... All the others I have seen but still don't know exactly what one looks like, or is supposed to look like (to be full blooded of course). Even on the Ameraucana web site there are none... Anyone have pictures of true Splash Wheaten?

I completely trust this seller. I met her here on BYC

All of my EE hens I got from her look exactly love my purebred Ameruacana hen I got, even the same color. I can no longer tell which is the purebred Ameruacana

Certainly the best place in the world to meet trustworthy people is through the internet. If they look the same to you and you are happy, that is all that matters...unless you plan to breed...

Lol that is true. She showed me the hens and rooster the eggs came from and we even had a long discussion about how to tell an EE from an Ameruacana.
I only mentioned that they look similar because my purebred Ameruacana came from a breeder who breeds them to show them and I just figured if the EEs I got look identical to them then the rooster was most likely a real Ameruacana and not another EE.

They're not on the ABC website because splash isn't an accepted color yet, even though it's a result of blue breeding.

Splash will look like white (with some blue feathers interspersed) anywhere you would find blue or black on a blue wheaten or wheaten bird. This site has a picture of a splash wheaten rooster:

I love splash, I was disappointed when I didn't get any splash chicks on my first chick order (from a nice lady with BBS Ameraucanas in Dalton btw.)

It's a male. Females don't come in that color
