Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

They're not on the ABC website because splash isn't an accepted color yet, even though it's a result of blue breeding.

Splash will look like white (with some blue feathers interspersed) anywhere you would find blue or black on a blue wheaten or wheaten bird. This site has a picture of a splash wheaten rooster:

I love splash, I was disappointed when I didn't get any splash chicks on my first chick order (from a nice lady with BBS Ameraucanas in Dalton btw.)
Thanks!! I had been to that site and didn't notice that one.
Does she still sell them?

Any idea what a Splash Wheaten hen looks like?

Yep! Though they're BBS, not BBS Wheaten. You can see pictures of the chicks I got in my profile under Blue/Black Ameraucanas.

And a splash wheaten hen looks just like a blue wheaten hen but with white wingtips and tail tip. I can't even find a good picture on Google because they're so similar haha.

The wheatens I covet are Lark Rise's. Hers are the bluest eggs I've ever seen, I may just have to take a field trip to east Georgia someday haha.

This is our Ameraucana rooster Charlie, he is about 2 1/2yrs old now. He, and one of our Ameraucana hens, Georgia; are two of the original Chickens from our first flock which we raised from a few weeks old.

Thanks Schroeder! That is what I would like to do... One problem I am having is finding ACTUAL pictures of Splash Wheaten... All the others I have seen but still don't know exactly what one looks like, or is supposed to look like (to be full blooded of course). Even on the Ameraucana web site there are none... Anyone have pictures of true Splash Wheaten?

This is a splash Wheaten Rooster, no comment on quality, lol, but he is a splash Wheaten.

I believe these are both females... At least I hope so! I didn't picture the roo I referred to in my original post. Here he is...

That big one? Yes, that's not an Ameraucana. If those two are female, they must be EE's. Black females shouldn't be showing leakage in hackles or anywhere else. They can have some white showing on tips that haven't colored in yet, but that is usually gone by the time they mature.

What color is he supposed to be? I haven't seen that color in Ameraucana.

Just wanted to share a photo of my Ameraucana hen. She's very sweet and enjoys free ranging and eating mealworms. She lets me pet her feathers now and then!
