Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Well, please do not tell Paul Smith. This is a 20 week old BlueWheaten. His beard has been removed by his hens.

It is not a blue wheaten. This is a blue wheaten cockerel.

And if it is from Paul, you should e-mail him and send him a picture of the bird. It would be helpful also if you would check the toe punches to tell him which pen it came from.

Any breeders in South Africa willing to deliver? Chicks or adults, I don't mind.

Many thanks!!

I will do that. If my bird is not a Blue Wheaten, that is a huge disappointment.

It is probably some weird genetic anomaly if it came directly from Paul. Do not use it for breeding.
I guess I will use him with my two EE's, or I will give him away to a friend who has EE's. I only had him and a blue wheaten hen, a lavender cockerel and hen that I am not terribly crazy about, and then my 11 BBS. Guess that answers what I will actually breed. I will be taking pictures of the blues and getting feedback on them.

Now, I know how the folks feel that are so sure they have Ameraucanas and are then told they have EEs. Extremely disappointed.

Sorry you were lied to by this person. She has tricked a few others here before. See here: Thank you for being honest. that makes me want to cry. I guess I'm to trusting and have to learn the hard way. Were is a good place to get true ameraucana's. Preferably blue wheaten or lavender. Someone who has good quality and honest.

She also responds poorly to negative eBay feedback and denies she sells easter eggers, but maybe if enough people leave a warning in their feedback that these are not true Ameraucanas, others will have a chance to find out the truth before they buy.

Well take some solace in knowing you were not lied to or Mis-led like most.
Paul Smith is one of the top Breeders, Very Well known and respected.
Anomalies happen, especially in such a young and developing breed as Ameraucanas.
Before you dispatch that bird, as has already been mentioned contact him.

No one, not even the OP, suggested dispatching the bird. She was told not to use the bird for breeding.

There is no reason to breed a bird that genetically is not correct for that variety. Paul will tell them the same thing.

Mother Nature throws curve balls sometimes and poo poo happens.
