Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Well take some solace in knowing you were not lied to or Mis-led like most.
Paul Smith is one of the top Breeders, Very Well known and respected.
Anomalies happen, especially in such a young and developing breed as Ameraucanas.
Before you dispatch that bird, as has already been mentioned contact him.

No one, not even the OP, suggested dispatching the bird. She was told not to use the bird for breeding.

There is no reason to breed a bird that genetically is not correct for that variety. Paul will tell them the same thing.

Mother Nature throws curve balls sometimes and poo poo happens.

I think I was the one that said I might give him to a friend. Other than being disappointed, It helps me make a decision as to which group I will concentrate on. Life goes on.

I will do that. If my bird is not a Blue Wheaten, that is a huge disappointment.

I think he's gorgeous

Ummmm....I never said chop his head off?!?!
I do apologize if I upset you in some way.

What I meant was you might want to keep ahold of it until you Talk to Mr. Smith. Sometimes when a bird like this pops up in a breeding program the breeder might want him back for various reasons.
I was only trying to give helpful advice, and maybe ease the crushing blow that has been dealt the OP this morning.

Thank you for trying to ease this news. Yep, very disappointed because the blue wheatens were becoming my favorites. Nope, his head will not be cut off as I cannot do that with any of my chickens. He'll either go to a new home, or he will be my EE/Laying flock roo. Out of the five roosters in the group, he was the most developed and the first to crow. I will wait to see what he looks like as an adult before I do anything.
