Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Maybe a new thread could be started called 'Helping ID EE vs. Ameraucana'. I think so many people ask that question on this thread figuring you folks would be the experts. I asked about the leg color because I read green = EE. I don't know how to tell as I am new to chickens. So I'm just trying to put puzzle pieces together. I do find it odd the types & frequencies of judgemental overtones Ameraucana buffs have on the whole EE ID question. People are asking for your help out of a genuine desire for knowledge & in respect of your knowledge/experience. Plus, some of these inquiring members may very well be a Breeder's great new customer. A little grace in information sharing couldn't hurt.

There are already several pages dedicated to trying to educate about the differences and telling them apart. It is a good idea-but ha already been acted on by several people. But when people type in Ameraucana in the thread search bar this is probably what comes up. Many people try to help, but you know how emotion are portrayed through computers-not very well. Then people would get mad/upset and call people rude and a lot of people got tired if being called rude for simply trying to help. There are lots of people on this thread and sooner or later the person will get their question answered

Where did you find the breeder? There are some that misrepresent what they are selling. I asked about lavendar because of the feathers being frizzled on the front of her chest, instead of being smooth.

the breeder is in my province, so you wouldn't be familiar the person is a vet so well respected. Feathers frizzled? they are smooth must be the pic lol

I can't tell the genders (for sure) until about 12 weeks. This looks like a light blue to me because it looks like there is lacing around the feathers. Here is lavender hen:

I found this pic of a light blue hen.

Yeah definitely the light blue i got new pics today but need to upload.. the bird will NOT stop moving lol i swear a nature photographer i am not.... Some of the others i can tell are cockerels as the comb is presenting red and bumping but they are blacks, this was my only blue, i got a mixed batch of colours NOT the bird themselves but from the breeder i mean as she breeds 3 colours and i wanted any combination for my EE hen to incubate.

I see both side of this, on one hand written word can be hard to interpret and also often if your prepared to answers questions on a forum you better be prepared to repeat yourself and A LOT lol Of coarse the option is always there not to respond too

. I also think there is massive difficulties in ID'ing this breed of bird and some definitely get a bit overly defensive about it too.

Of coarse also some have no patience and think answers should fall from the sky instantly, anyhow.. hopefully happy mediums can prevail at the end of the day we all have the same goal to speak about, educate and enjoy our poultry!

I am sooo glad I live too far away to attend as I'd be drooling over all of thise beautiful results of careful breeding & convincing myself I would need them. All of them. Chicken math is my arch nemesis!

Wendy F. You have a big variety of chicks. I have a Black orpington and she is biggest chicken I have. She's huge, very pretty with a little green in her feathers that look real pretty when the sun hits them. I have an Easter egger also. Sounds like you have a fun variety. Are they all in the same coop and do they get along with each other. If they're young chicks I suppose they do.
