I only have 5 americaunas. (supposed to be 7 but two turned out not to be) These five include;a wheaten, a silver, a red and brown, a lavender, and a red and grey chick that i havnt yet to figure out.

why. I bought her as an Americana & I have done the research so I thought

No such thing as Americana. She is not the right color and her legs are the wrong color. Unless you got her from a breeder that breeds to the standard, you bought an Easter Egger.

Research the color standards and you'll see why it's not purebred. It probably has some Ameraucana bloodline somewhere up the tree though....

this is so frustrating to see. I see ads all the time on craigslist people advertising easter eggers as Americana...(usually the way they spell it gives it away. someone with purebreds will take pride in what they have and spell it right)......I really don't know why they do it, unless they're charging more by saying it's a purebred.

I bought ameraucanas because I wanted the breed, but if I couldn't have found breed specific, I would have happily bought EE's for the blue, green or olive eggs. Also, some of the Easter Eggers come out in such beautiful colors!
