Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

It's a silver type color, but it's not the standard Silver for Ameraucana. Silver Ameraucana is the same color/pattern as a Dark Brahma. It's basically a silver based partridge. The chick in question is not Ameraucana because the silver pattern looks more colombian than partridge, it has green legs, and no beard.

I do raise Ameraucana, so am aware of the leg color, etc. Although, I can't tell from that picture if the legs are green. Wasn't too concerned about the muff because I've seen them thin out on juveniles at a certain age and then grow back in. I've never seen pics of silver juveniles, so wasn't aware what the plummage looked like on them. I know juvenile wheaten males don't look anything like what they will look like when grown. That's why I asked.
Would love to see some pics of them, if anyone had some. Thanks.

I have A question for anyone. I have been on this thread several times and heard people say that a pure Ameraucanaa chicken does not have green legs. The Chicken chick says that they can have green, slate, and yellow legs. I googled this question because I got some hatching eggs from a girl that advertised them ,on I can't say where and she said that they were Ameraucana eggs and OE eggs. I didn't have very good luck with the hatch and the two chicks that I came up with have green legs. I was going to comment to her about the fact that they have green legs and thought I would check it out first. Can anybody tell me 100% that an Ameraucana chicken can't have green legs? Very curious about this and about the fact that the chicken chick says otherwise. I'd like to actually hear what anybody has to say. Thank you

The chicken chick is wrong. She is likely confusing Ameraucana with Easter eggers. Like hacheries and many others do. Your green legged chicks are likely from the OE eggs the lady told you she had. OE typically means olive egger which is usually an Ameraucana bred to a brown (yellow skinned) egg layer.

So, the jury is still out on the 2 blues from the Easter HAL. In the group shot I think the bigger one on the left is probably a cockerel. The smaller one on the right I'm still hoping is a pullet. Thoughts please?

those combs look female to me. Can't see their backs to tell if any "cape" is coming in,, but those combs look female.

I need some help here. This bird I can't tell girl or boy. The boys have much bigger combs with 3 rows and the girls festhers look more feminine than this one. She is 4 months old. I did do crop surgery to save her (hopefully her) life.really need this to be a girl

That's a male, but congratulations on your successful crop surgery!

Hey y'all do you know any true ameraucana breeders that will ship hatching eggs I am going to start my own breeding program

Hey, thanks! Is that females on top, males on the bottom? How old are they in those pics? Males don't look anything like they do full grown.
Yes, pullets in top pic, and in the bottom a pullet on the left and a cockerel on the right....the pullets are 12 weeks, and the cockerel was around 5 -6 weeks in the pic....I can see where he will develop into a silver cock.... this is not my bird,
