I'm going to say boy, a slow feathering boy, and let me tell you why. Besides the comb, which is a bit large for a female and red, I see in the first picture a hint of "fluff" peeking out from the side on it's back. I see this often in males. I don't remember ever seeing it in females. At least not in my flock. In one pic it looks like I see pointy hackles, but that can sometimes be tricky just having a pic to look at. Like other poster said, start digging under the feathers on the lower back around that "fluff" and see if you can see pointy feathers coming in. At sixteen weeks there surely should be some. If it is a male, he is a really slow featherer. Hope you have a girl, but those pointy saddle feathers will be a dead giveaway.
I really hope so, because this is my first experience with pea combs, and they are all suspiciously rooster looking to me at 6 weeksIt's a pullet
That gives me some hope. I need to get some better close ups to show you guys. There are a few with almost non-existent combs, a few with much more pronounced combs, but most are somewhere in the middle. I bought 17 straight run, so I'm hoping 8 or 9 hens, but more would always be better
I'm so so happy with my decision to get AMs ^.^ they're so sweet! I was just out there sitting on a board and they all flocked over, curious, and one hopped up on my shoulder, the others sat on my feet and they all started to doze off, allowing me to pet themlove my little AMs!!!![]()
