This is a massive thread with some very beautiful birds posted. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could recommend where I could purchase hatching eggs? Now back to page 1.

This is my five day old Ameraucana chick. Can anyone tell me if they think this is a pullet or a cockerel. I don't know if you can make it out that it's got little tiny tailfeathers don't see anything else to give me an idea. If it's a Cockrell and it turns out to be a nice bird I'll just make it a no Crow collar. I made one for the rooster that I have that's an Easter egger and it works just great. Anybody got any thoughts on what sex it is?
I was assured by the girl that breeds these chickens that these are Ameraucanas. She was upset that I would even ask her if they were EEs. The legs don't look green to me so maybe the picture is throwing you off,
I'm seeing some green tint also, and usually they have some cream in their chest and wing tips so it doesn't look like most ameraucanas of that color. As far as the sex it is way too early to know anything for sure, but my guess would be a male. It looks like it has some pretty stout legs and comb looks a little prominent. It just stands like a male is what I think.

Lots of people order "Ameraucana" from hatcheries, breed them, and sell the chicks as pure Ameraucana. They insist that they have Ameraucana because that is what the birds were originally sold as. The fact is that they had Easter Eggers all along. Did she tell what color, specifically this chick was? If she can't tell you exactly what you are buying, she doesn't have pure birds, or she's not a very good breeder.I was assured by the girl that breeds these chickens that these are Ameraucanas.
