Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

How much would you expect to pay for a quad of "show quality" ameraucanas: 1 rooster, 1 hen, and 2 four-month-old pullets?? I have never spent this much, much less PAID for a rooster. Lol I want to make sure I am not over-paying. She mispelled as "Ameracunas" which raises a red flag. But she said they came from Paul Smith lines. Thanks in advance.

Here are some pictures of the birds:

I'm still learning here, so after all of that being said, what do you think of the birds posted? They look good to me, though maybe a little lighter bodied than the ones I am currently growing out. I do know that the parents of my birds came directly from Pauls farm, and I bought the first straight run of chicks hatched from them. Paul's chicks are actually pretty reasonable when bought straight run

This is my first year raising blacks and I don't have blues, so I am certainly no expert. From what I see, they look like nice birds, but I can't tell much about the combs. I don't think you mentioned how old they were (or if you did, I forgot it :) ) and that would make a difference as to size and bulk.

The birds in question are actually Hebertchick's, but I was comparing them to mine. Mine are about 14 weeks, and the blues look very similar, but mine look like they may grow out a little heavier

They look like pretty nice birds...good lacing...price depends a lot on what area you are in, just keep in mind that you can buy straight run chicks directly from a top breeder for $8 to $10 per chick, shipped.... 'Paul Smith lines' usually means that they are bred from Paul Smith birds, and did not come from his breeding selection...big difference there...I don't think I would give much more than $100 for the 4 birds.... edited to add...the pics look like there might be some leakage??? Might just be my monitor, but if there are redish feathers, I'd pass on them all and order directly from a top breeder..

The woman I got my birds from showed me the original emails. She got her first chicks directly from Paul for $10 each shipped. I think that's a very fair price for direct from the breeder birds

She is asking $100 for the quad. We don't show birds, so quality doesn't have to be absolutely perfect, but I do want them to be nice since we will be selling the chicks in our local area.

I want to buy those birds, but the seller is just stressing me out. It's been like pulling teeth to try and get her to send me any additional pictures, and then the ones she does send are horrible quality and too dark to see anything. I asked her to send more pictures... That I wanted to see a close up of the face & comb, chest, legs, and a picture of the eggs her hens lay. She sent me one picture of the comb. And said "the eggs are smaller than my Marans". No pics of the eggs. I hope she doesn't take it as rude, but I told her I've never spent this kind of money on birds before and if she wants to sell them she will have to send me better pictures. Makes me leery... But could just be my anxiety.
