Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Use the ameraucana cock bird over the BCM, it more likely to get the blue egg gene transferred that way.
Thank you for that. I will have excess Am cockerels from my first straight run batch, so I wasnt sure which way to go.
I'm hatching BCM right now, so I will have more of those hens than I will Ams to start, anyway

I am not sure how that would work for me! I have two black ameraucana roos about 12 weeks old but they may be split to lavender! Would that be o.k.?

Why wouldn't that work to make an olive egger?
Lavender is a feather color gene, not an egg color gene. It's a recessive dilute gene for black feathering. It has nothing to do with what color egg gene a bird might have.

When I bought my hatching eggs some of the ameraucana eggs where kinda on the green side! They came from a very good source!

If this is a legitimate guide, then it covers more than I was under the impression was allowed

From what I have been told, the colors on this chart are for reference only, so that people in 2 different places could compare colors to a common guide.

I's NOT all the colors allowed for Ameraucana eggs. From what I understand, Ameraucana eggs should be blue.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.....

they should be blue but some feather colors have been brought into the breed from Brown egg layers and many still have problems with egg color also some people focus on type and feather color more than egg color when they breed
