Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I thought ameraucana didnt have tails. and araucana were the ones with tails, is easter egger just araucana cross?
I had an araucana and he bred with an isa brown.. will the eggs still be blue or green?

You have Araucana and Ameraucana reversed. EE's are I guess I would call them colored egg laying mutts. If the Araucana was from blue egg laying lines the pullets should probably lay green eggs.

Pinkchick-b/c she is not a standard color it is totally unpredictable what color the off spring would be.
Would I breed her? YES. But in a separate pen from my other Amers so the eggs wouldnt throw off someone down the way.
She is beautiful. If she lays a large blue egg, it would totally be worth doing to breed her for LARGE blue egg laying pretty EEs.
Try and find a Roo that came from a blue egg that maybe you wouldnt keep for breeding your other Amers for whatever reason.

Now the reason for this post.........I would like to know what her coloring is considered or if it is considered anything. I have not used her for breeding yet but she does lay a fabulously huge sky blue egg

and she has a great personality.

What would I get if I used my Blue Ameraucana roo over her?
What would I get if I used my Black Ameraucana roo over her?
What would I get if I used my Splash Ameraucana roo over her?

Would you use her for breeding?

So give me your best guess.... how the off spring may come out using the blue roo?
I'm safe to assume that I should not look at this like I look at breeding and the genetics of my Blue and Blue Copper Marans, RIGHT?

If this is the only one to turn out like this from blue parents, some mixed genes are in there, but most of them seem to be adding up.
If you use a blue roo you will get blue, black, and splash probably mostly solid leaking red/brown on some feathers and solid blue and black..but that's just a guess.
Again, and I know you would..I would just tell people that even if they look visual blue or black the chance exits that their own chicks could come out looking mixed down the way.
Now you will just have to do it and let us know!

Somebody PM'd me today asking for some pics of my SW Ameraucana pullet. I replied saying I'd post some today and now I can't remember who it was or if this is the right thread. I hope it is.

It finally stopped raining long enough today for me to get a couple of pics. They're not that good and hopefully I can get some better ones it's not all muddy. However, as you can see below, it looks like "she" has turned into a "he". It's been awhile since I've looked her over and I never noticed the saddle feathers before. I'm thinking about taking him to the show next month. Maybe I can get some good pics of him all washed up and looking really pretty.

Tailfeathers,

Well I guess you don't have a pullet!!!

BTW... I'm the one who PM'd you.

Now that I have a BW roo and two BW pullets I can't wait to see if I can get some splash.

Thanks...

I'll bet once he's washed up and blow dried he'd be very pretty!

Thanks Henry.

Mahonri, I was just looking thru my "Deleted" box and realized it was you. Was about to email you but I see you already saw this first.

Well, now I have to go out to the second coop and start looking at my birds closer. I thought I kept another Splash chick but not sure now. This has been such a crazy year, I'm not even sure what I do have out there right now. I've still got babies growing up and I'm about ready to put birds back into the breeding pens again. Only now I get to add a SW cockerel to the mix! Woo Hoo!

God Bless,
