Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hello everyone! I'm new to the chicken game and am currently raising my first flock now. My three Blue AM are 10 weeks old and I'm loving them. I can't have roos so I'm hoping I end up with at least one hen. Here are some pictures from this morning.
# 1 My favorite. Very sweet, calm, and smart.

#2 This one is the smallest and feathered in very slowly.

#3 I'm thinking this is a roo, just based on comb color and big ol' legs.

The combs are very light on the hens and the rooster is bright and has 3 rows of peas. The hens have only one.

Yes, I remember reading that. I'm a little confused on the rows things though. My EE has what looks to me like three rows but everyone says it's a pullet. On my AM, #1 and #3 had pretty much no combs until about week 9. #2 had what looked like a three row comb since hatch, through it was very tiny. #3 actually started getting red before the comb started growing.

Either way, it's no big deal. I know it's not exact for every single chicken. I knew they were straight run and my chances of getting a roo were high. The good news is I know someone who will take a roo to breed with her EEs. Then I could have her fertile eggs.

A proper pea comb bird should have three rows, regardless of gender. I've got a bunch of three row combed pullets.

I had no idea. I'm always learning something new on here. Thanks junebuggena.
