Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

That depends on where you live. I only vaccinate for ILT now.

If you live in a warmer climate, you may consider pox vaccine.

I do spray my birds for bugs before I go to help prevent any bugs from hitching a ride home.

There is a lady near me in Pa looking for a blue Am rooster. Not sure if anyone here can help her. The Am guy I know of doesn't have blue.

I have a blue Ameraucana 16 wks old that I need to find a new home for, but I'm in Michigan. I just took this with a bunch of other pics this morning.

I vaccinate for fowl pox, as I have seen birds at shows displaying what looked like dry pox. I also spritz my birds with Frontline spray before shows, so they don't bring home any unwelcome visitors. :)

I also give the birds going to a show a 10 day course of Denegard before the show, to help prevent CRD.

I want to hatch but I only have a couple laying now. By the time I get to hatch I will probably be having surgery. I may do a late hatch just for myself. I am addicted! Just got rid of the ones in the kitchen a couple weeks or so ago. I didn't hatch them though. My husband was joking they should be laying soon! They whern't that big!

Surgery again? Oh no! I hope everything goes much better this time than last. Please let us know how you're doing.

Thank you Susan, I was out looking at the Wheaten/Blue Wheatens that I got from you. I love them! They are my favorite out of all my Ameraucanas! Two pictures of each rooster.
The white on the feathers is camera flash not white in the feathers.

Wow! I know they came from here...but wow! Any of those three birds would be competitive in a show. The blue wheaten could use a fuller tail and the wheaten's tail set looks a bit low - but I'd rather see too low than too high. It will come up - it won't ever go down. :) Edited to add - I did see some thin looking beards and muffs when I pulled the pics up to full size - do you know which breeding pen that blue wheaten pullet and the blue wheaten cockerel came out of?

Very nice! You've done a great job raising and conditioning them!

I wanted to make sure everyone else knows they are yours. I have to give credit where credit is due. I will go out and may be able to tell by looking at leg tags. I got more from the pen you said you wanted to make sure I got some out of that pen.
