My first home hatched Ameraucana! Now let's hope it's a pullet. This little bugger had a rough time getting going after it hatched but he/she is a fighter! The other egg quit so all I have is this one. Time to plan my next hatch...

I wouldn't mix self blue (Lavender) with blue... but you'll get blacks and blues all carrying sb (Lav)...

Because in breeding the offspring later on, self blue will be mixed in with blue... it will get muddied telling the colors apart... plus, you want to avoid introducing recessive traits, they're difficult to breed out...

I can't keep Roos so I'd like to rehome as soon as possible. But if you think could still be a pullet I'll hold on to him/her until certain.

Looks like a pullet comb to me. If no saddle feathers peeking through, you probably have a pullet.

I have four Blue Ameraucanas now, I have a Black, and either two splashes and one blue or vice versa.

You can keep all the black pullets to breed back to the cock bird lavender. You won;t get mixed up that way.

My BBS and Lavendar Ameraucana's hatched yesterday! I am so excited. My Buff Orpington (sp) wanted to be a mamma and I needed chicks for a Father's Day event this weekend so it was perfect timing. I did let her hatch out 2 of her eggs. They are so cute! I will be keeping a couple for her to raise.
