Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Should pure wheatons only hatch pure wheaton colored chicks? Or do some come out different? This is a chick from purebred (apparently) parents.

Your chick looks normal and it is a male in case you were wondering. It will continue to go through many changes as it matures. Have to be patient waiting for final result with Wheatons/blue wheatons.

Can someone please post a picture of an Adult Splash Wheaten? I've seen Wheaten, I've seen Blue Wheaten, but to my knowledge I haven't seen Splash, and I tried looking at google images, and the only thing clearly labeled as "Splash Wheaten" that I could find, was a pullet. I want to see them grown up, and preferably both hen and rooster. Thanks to whoever shares a pic with me.

Just picked up these sweet chicks last week: Breeder (reliable source, as she shows) says they are Wheaten, blue Wheaten and Splash Wheaten

Thanks, I went to her FB and looked through the pics, but none were labeled Splash Wheaten only Wheaten or Blue Wheaten. I don't know why this particular bird is so darn elusive for me, but it is. LOL.

I left a message on her page asking if she'd show me what they look like. I guess we'll see if she feels like it or not. In the meantime, I'm still hoping someone here will post some pics for me lol. I'm curious how they look in relation to regular Splash birds.

Thanks so much. They look beautiful. They aren't what I expected, so I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm not such a fan of splash in the B/B/S type, so I didn't have much hope this would be an attractive bird to me, but it was. That rooster is a handsome fella huh? lol

Keep in mind those are bantam birds, not large fowl, but color is basically the same. You can tell a splash from a blue by looking at mainly the color in the wings. Splash will have white feathers where the blue or black would normally be. I have seen some blue in tails of males and I guess some is normal, so I would look to the wings to determine.
