I either have some Ameraucanas or some EE's. I just got them this week from a fellow BYC'er. They lay the prettiest blue eggs, but I haven't gotten pics of them yet...58 hour work week
!! I will post pics here hopefully tomorrow for you all to tell me what they are and what I need to work on if you all don't mind me picking your brains. It is SO hard to find good info and pics of the Ameraucanas! Everything I have learned says they are true Ameraucanas, but I want to hear it from the experts
I have a pair of blue's, a black hen, which I think are true Ameraucanas, as I was told they originally came from stock from Whitemore Farm who has those colors. All have slate legs, beards and muffs. The main questions I have are on type and such because I want to breed a high quality from these birds. I am in a bit of a rush to get some offspring due to the age of the parents, so I have begun incubating already. I also have a white and rust colored definate EE hen who is just a doll! I'll get some good pics of the eggs too, even the EE lays a baby blue egg, not a smidge of green in them. They are precious! I love these birds! I have 4 eggs in the bator now
Thanks HappyMtn and Green,
that actually did cross my mind, that it could be a boy and his big boy colors were just showing early. I will watch him closely and let you guys know, and of course post more pics as they get older. Thanks so much for your input!
I just noticed the brown in the roo and blue(?) hens neck feathers so that is making me second guess their coloring and whether they are true Ameraucanas or not. I'm not raising for show or anything, but can that be bred back out? I'd like to get as close as possible to standards. They all lay blue eggs, the parent stock was from Whitemore Farm...but...I have no idea what bred to what and color means everything with this breed so I've learned. Either way, I love them and they are here to stay
Any positive ID's on these babies? I couldn't get a good egg pic...my camera is just old and won't even show the blueness of these eggs. The pics all looked like white eggs..lol!

If the 3 BBS ones ARE ameraucanas- they are leaking a lot of gold. Hard to tell for sure from the pics- for me anyway. Personally- I love the blue/copper combination- but it's not standard in very many breeds.
HappyMtn~ Thanks for the reply! I never really noticed the brownish or 'gold' coloring in them until the photos. The male looks darker than the pic. The only one that came out 'true to the naked eye' is the EE that I am sure is an EE due to incorrect coloring. The combs, legs and everything else look standard to me. Of course, I know very little as I am just learning about these birds
That is why I turned to you guys! I did see Whitemore Farm on the ABC breeder's page, and I was told specifically these came from there. I just want to know really what would be proper to call them as I certainly DO NOT want to call them Ameraucanas if they are not. Would I have to wait for chicks to be sure? Kind of see what kind of genetics they throw out in their babies if they breed true? They are all about 2-3 years old, and I may sell some chicks from them if I can successfully breed from these older birds. I just want to know what I'm selling. A guy at the local flea market told me today he had some Ameraucanas that laid pink, green, olive and blue eggs....
I HAVE LEARNED BETTER THAN THAT at least! I just said "how nice" and walked off. LOL! He's a good guy, just doesn't know, and I didn't want to argue with him. It amazes me that is such a huge deal anyway. BUT I have studied the genetics a bit, and kinda get it, though still a little fuzzy. I do want some true Ameracaunas, but if these turn out to be EE's, I still like them very much!!!
