So you really think they the parents threw a bantam? Interesting.... Now that I think of it, If he is I'd like to experiment with some things

Tyler...just sent you an email re this:

Those two chicks are girls. The boys have a lot of black in them by now. I have two boys the same age that are Wheatens if you want to drive up at some point for one. I told you they throw mostly pullets...looks like the 2nd gen are doing the same.

The size difference is likely due to me setting a few small eggs...a pullet or two just started laying while most of them had been laying for a few months, plus the hens whose eggs were larger. I do have two very large pullets who are bigger than their parents already, suspect that larger one is from one of them. The underlying genetics are there and they should become closer in size as they mature.

As I've told you, I've been concentrating on size and type (so many skinny, lanky examples of W/BW)...
they say "build the barn before you paint it". I'm really pleased with my same chicks as your batch. They are larger than the Marans and Sussex they hatched with.

If those 2 are pullets, I ended up with 5 pullets out of 5! Holy smokes... I love it!

... This is my best sex ratio yet!

Yes! I have news!! My black bantam cock bird took BB, BV, and Ch. Ameraucana, with Res. Ameraucana going to a Jr. exhibitor with another black bantam hen. There were 14 bantams shown, 5 black, 2 lavs, 7 wheatens. Royce brought lf weatens and blue weatens...I think I remember counting 8 of them total. Overall, it was a pretty decent turnout for the Ameraucanas, considering the size of the show.

..I like good sex ratios on hatches!

I love the roo in your Avatar!

BTW I am thinking that if you retake a picture of your BW AM cockerel and include something that would put him in perspective. Put him next to another LF next to something else that will give an idea of his true size. Maybe that hugh board in the background makes him look small.
And Tyler, you did use the perfect button to show you enthusiasm.
