Too funny lotsapaints. I do agree that their color is stunning though. I am just starting out and have already started with the Blue/Blacks, but once I am happy with them I will add the Blue Wheatens also.

Since I have these pictures, I will post hopefully to answer about the earlier inquiry about coloration on black chicks. I do not breed pure blacks but bought these to improve my lav project.

The following three photos are purebred black chicks (no blue, no splash) from show winning lines.

They have a fair amount of white/silver/yellowish white on them, as you can see.

Come and see for yourself Neighbor! I'm probably not much more than spittin' distance from ya.

Btw, Welcome Aboard!

I just happened to get your post in my Inbox and clicked on the link to see which variety you are referring to. I have the WBS. You can see pics of my birds and eggs on my webpage.

My roosters are gentle as can be and I have all my roosters in the same pen if that tells you anything. Also, while I have never had this happen before (but others have to me it has to them), I just had a pullet fly up on my shoulder the other day. The little potlicker came out of nowhere and landed on my shoulder. It was pretty cute but I'm pretty sure I lost 10 years off my life.

Same thing happened to me last summer with one of my lav am pullet. She flew off the side of the hill about 25 ft away... and landed on my upper arm (which was blocking my face!). Scared the bejeebus out of me. Apparently she just wanted a free ride around the yard!
