I'm about an hour from you. I'm selling lavs and blue wheaten chicks. Eggs are $3 each for the lavs if you pick up. Much less than the $35 an egg they are going for now. That's just insane!
I know people last year were charging $7-8 a piece for thier black copper marans eggs. I waited, and was able to buy chicks for $6 each from the same lines. Just have to shop around!
OK.... I did a search on how to sex Ameraucanas and it gave me so many threads with A LOT of postings. When you do a search, is there a way to get the exact spot of what you are looking for is or do you have to read all the threads to find your answer.
In the meantime, I'd really appreciate it if one of you could answer this for me......
Wheaten colors can be sexed as soon as half of their feathers are in. Silver Ameraucanas can be sexed when they're fully feathered. Others can be sexed at 5+ weeks old by comb redness and size.

Yes, you have to search all the threads that come up to find what you are looking for. Even if something is mentioned one time in a thread of 2,000 posts, and completely out of context of what you are looking for, the thread will come up.
I have had REALLY good luck sexing my Ameraucanas by comb color alone between 6 and 8 weeks. After that, I don't bother trying until they are near full size and getting adult plumage.

The BBS..... What should I be looking for in the comb? I'm guessing the boys would be redder and bigger?
I am working on getting some Silver Ameraucanas. I have located a few breeders but I was wondering if anyone here at BYC has them for sale? I am in the market for a dozen eggs and I would like to get them shipped about March 2nd, so I will have them for my next hatch.

the cockerels will have a bigger, more red, and more bumpy comb
I was told upon purchasing this boy as a chick that he was an Araucana? What do you think?
What is the difference between an Ameraucana, and Araucana and an EE?
